On February 19, 2007 a regular at Jim's Liquors located in the Antietam Village Shopping Center near where I deliver papers decided to attempt to rob the store.
It has been called a failed robbery attempt, however since he made the owner leave, then set the place on fire I sincerely believe he committed suicide. Especially since he was found laying by the door which he could have opened as it was a screw type lock which could easily be turned to open.
I recently found some very powerful on scene video, not previously shared through newscasts and the 911 recordings just released to the local paper.

I think the police and fire rescue had no choice and did the best they could. What do you think? Could anything have been done differently?
This incident is one of many experienced with the growth of our little city. The violence is spreading rapidly from inner city to the outter city and people are clearly concerned feeling that not enough is being done to curb it.
Recently two suspects fired a gun into a group of people and drove off. No one was hurt, but a house was damaged.
Last year in my own community was a stabbing, a car chase, 2 shootings of gang members and the other night my tires got flattened for no reason as I have no enemies?
Clearly fed up everyone is selling out or moving far away, but that will not solve the problem, because crime will just keep following us. Crime will be every where we go.
We need to take care of ourselves and our neighbors! Be active in neighborhood watches, call police actively and push for change. When there is an incident you withness for goodness sakes TELL, because these criminals don't keep promises! It's a known fact they will try to get you whether you tell or not, so why not go out with a bang having done your part to improve your neighborhood.
I like what Hagarstown did. When faced with increasing crime rates they cracked down hard even condeming the worst neighborhood and having it torn down. Their crime rates are lower then ours, they don't bend and they are most always preparing for what might be heading their way crime wise. I believe that is why they have a safer place to live. but even so crime is rising there too, but they seem to have better control of it.
Here is the article on the recent shots fired and the comments of readers below it. I am not sure about the one poster comments on how he doesnt get a response, because here in my neck of the woods I get a response every time I call. I am sure the police are doing the best they can, but I do agree they should have been prepared for this crime rise and dont feel they completely were.
Seems we are pretty tight security wise ready for others trying to invade our country, but seems to me we need to run a tank down in our cities and clear out any trouble we already have.
It is in my opinion that we have terrorist type situations right in our own backyard being commited by our local gangs and criminals, thus there needs to be swift and hard action. The same action required to deal with terrorists from other countries would clean our own streets!!
TIP: It is in my experience that people are afraid of large dogs more then guns, because it is a well known fact that large dogs have been known to be fatally shot and still get up and protect their owner by attacking the criminals. I believe that the criminals fear dogs, because dogs acting in protection have the ability to control their own death. People are naturally afraid of things they can not control.
I do not believe in just getting a pet for protection though. If you arent going to properly, socialize and make your pet a loved member of the family then do not get one!!!!!!

We've all have issues with those darn automated attendant systems. You say one thing it does another til you end up screaming into the phone or hanging up ready to pull your hair out!
Well not only do I have some of my own techniques for getting to a real person fast, then getting what you want, but I recently discovered a news article and website that has literally 100's of businesses and exactly what prompts to push to skip auto-attendant and get to a live person..
My Advice is: I either keep pressing 0 til it tells me it is putting me through to a person or I don't say anything and it puts me through. Some times though if I dont respond it hangs up.
Getting What You Want: Stay calm and be professional. When possible have all evidence in front of you and ready for presentation before the call. Customer Service if often run via call centers with many operators, so if you have a reasonable request simply keep calling back calmly until one of the reps give you what you need.
No Help? If you still can't get your issue resolve ask for a supervisor, however wait on the line and speak to them live, because most of the time when you are told they will call you back they don't!
Tip: Nessesities: Bills and Services you NEED to live have more power to say yes then your non-essentials like cell phones, internet and credit cards..
In the case of non-essential expenses described above you would locate the corporate customer service number and call them. Just call their corporate office and ask who you would talk to in order to resolve the issue that your local customer service was unable to.

Scam: RotatorMaster
Recently brought to my attention by no other then a spammer was RotatorMaster a program that supposedly makes you money by using a special browser to automatically click on six different search engines who have paid the owner of RotatorMaster to help raise their ranks.
Claims the spammer: Website said he had made over 1100.00 by doing nothing but leaving this special browser and his downline doing it as well, but before i even joined running a simple check told me this!
1- Search of the name in google along with the word scam pops up a listing of people who have NOT been paid and are being ignored by admin of the program
2- FTC is working on shutting down auto-rotator programs similar, because they are scamming people with false claims
3. Search of google also finds many who were smart enough to recognize this is just a scam to build their website ranking for free.
4. Names, Search Engine Links are ALL hidden until you join and set up the browser
5. Site sent to was called Paidfornothing with claims that you get paid for doing nothing, yet there is a minimum requirement of leaving the browser on even if your downline leaves theirs on.
6. Site has hidden hyperlinks (link on top goes to different or extended link underneath)
7. First link I was sent to was unprofessional text page WHICH if he really made that amount of money, then WHY does Alexa tell us his traffic is very low??
9. Of course there is the RotatorMaster website which is slightly pro looking, no front page explanation is provided only a sign up link, terms, privacy info (etc).
10. Downloaded programs running on your computer are not only hacker friendly, but can cause your system to crash or worse break down. Your computer was not meant to be running programs like this!!! You simply do not know if that browser is really just clicking links or doing other dangerous things! It could be hacking yours and others computers in the background, running illegal transactions through your computer, sending out spam or worse viruses!
There was another company who attempted a similar type of thing, they had this program that took over your computer and used your internet connection to send out ads, but it turned out they were using your computer to spam, so they didn't get shut down themselves. Those users who fell for the promise of money ended up not disappointed, but had their internet connections stripped from them. The company was prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and the users could have been held legally responsible as well! You could get fined or have to go to jail!
OMG I just remembered the rules for most affiliates at search engines are that the affiliate himself can NOT click the links themselves and the use of programs to click or rotate to boost traffic rank or payment are expressly forbidden! Everyone is linked or is running through Google, even Yahoo uses google some. This means that legit search engines would not pay any company to use their program to auto-click as it would be a violation worthy of both being knocked out of the search engines like google they are trying to rank on top in and legal consequences!! <--If that doesn't convince you it's a scam then I don't know what will!
Results: RotatorMaster is just using "YOU" to get their site rank up really high. I'd venture to say that their "so called" search engines paying them are really their own in which they are also trying to use to climb Alexa and to the top of search engines! I bet a quick email to Google will have them found to be running an illegal operation and get them kicked off the major search engines..
So, Promises, but never any pay, unprofessional incomplete pages, ONE HUGE SCAM. STAY AWAY!

Often times simply googling the name of the company, along with the word scam will provide you with evidence it is a scam.
Now I don't just look for postings it is a scam, because there are trouble makers out there who try to ruin good programs too, but I look for people who have posted some details such as they are a member and have emailed admin with no response and have not been paid either, along with details that clue me in they are really a member.
Number one warning it may be a scam is if you receive spam of any form. If you didn't request it yourself put a red flag up! Not to mention who wants to join under some idiot who violated your privacy anyways right?

8. Any admin using a failed formula whom says they tweaked it
9. Any admin who hides his info, will not verify himself or wont let you contact him/her
10. If it sounds too good to be true
11. Emails/Websites claiming your account has been suspended or asks your password or personal info. Real companies will call you by phone
12. Sales initiated via messenger services or chatrooms, even if you have known them online for a long time and they have called you before, don't give out personal information to anyone!
13. Offers to help transfer money or want you to transfer for them
14. Sad stories about death/pain/kid napping claims asking you to help
15. Dating Sites/Love Interests/Online People who say they are away on business
16. Criminals are getting cell phones from USA, always trying to buy mine for sale, so the phone number looks like it is from America, but it is really someone sitting at a Nigerian cafe, so don't buy their stories!
17. Chairties, Lotteries (ETC) even if it looks like it came from Yahoo or a major known company it IS NOT them it is a scam
18. Emails/Websites asking you to click on links for any reason that you did not request
19. Emails/Websites with downloads/attachments (even txt attachments and pictures can be dangerous)
20. Contact email is from a free-email account or bounces when you write it.
21. Make money just by signing up IS a known scam
22. Pay this person, move this person up "chainletter or chainletter website" IS a scam and illegal! 99% of the time the persons email is on the list in all the spots!
23. Sign this many people up
24. We will pay you to sign up IS a scam and illegal
25. Any email or website where you have to pay an upper or lower person to sign up IS a scam
26. Just spend or buy and we will do the work

All it takes is a simple "What are you up to today?" conversation to lead to giving out too much information. (I.E. You: What are you doing today? Scammer: Ahh just paying bills" and that is how it starts...
Bottom Line:
Deal Locally
Get-Cash. All paper forms of payments including cashiers checks and money orders can be faked!
No wire transfers, because with just your number they can funnel money in and out and in most banks you are responsible for it!
Don't tell anyone personal, sensitive or financial info..
Don't share the name of your financial institution
Don't share passwords and usernames of any kind, not even simple ones that you dont think matter!
If someone starts talking about bills, banks or financial things of any kind, just tell them you dont talk about that stuff. Even if you think you are talking to your friend you know in real life, because hackers are incredible actors and many people thought they were talking to their friend and ends up it was an email or IM of a hacker who stole their account, studied their sent folders and are now talking to you! Not to mention, keyloggers and such can collect the information even if it is a real friend, so it is just best to never talk anything to do with financial or personal info online!
One HUGE scam- is a love interest acting jealous and asking for you to prove something to them by giving your username and password to email, dating site, etc. You think it's harmless, but since you use the same password or username in multiple places over time through social hacking he can get all he needs!

Ok how many of you remember being born? And how many of you have disorders from your mom screaming in labor pain at birth? EXACTLY!

YES, I believe in Natural Medicines, but a newborn baby is very fragile and needs regular care in addition to natural supplements. I mean if your newborn has a fever are you really going to wait for the natural doctor or would you take him/her to the emergency room????
Plus Natural Medicines can cause reactions just the same as traditional, so what happens when the fever wont go down and the child goes into it's first anaphylactic shock and has only minutes to get the epi-pen or die??
I am a woman who believes a little in all good religions but this religion endangers the lives of children from things we have protections against. I believe god gave us both natural and regular medicines as he created the scientists and doctors whom created them, so we are to use both when needed.
This religion is putting the lives of our children in the hands of luck, just so they can get into the rich mans wallet and I don't like it!
